Close your eyes and send your awareness down to the base of your tailbone. Envision a glowing red orb rotating around your tailbone. Imagine that it has a slow, steady, pulse. As you connect into this energy, feel it spreading through your hips, down your legs, out the soles of your feet. Whether you are seated, or standing, feel the ground beneath you. Feel Mama Earth holding you. Reconnect with the glowing red orb at the base of your spine and from here, begin to grow roots. Feel them growing from the tailbone, wrapping down the legs, through the soles of the feet, and into the earth. Feel your roots growing down, penetrating the layers of the earth, mingling with the mycelium network, connecting with the heart of Mama Earth. Actively push down with your tailbone as you watch your roots connecting with the core of our planet and connecting with an infinite amount of energy. As you push down, feel how that energy rebounds up your legs, into your hips, and up your spine. Feel grounded. Feel Safe. Take a few deep breaths. Drop into your body. Feel this beautiful vehicle for your consciousness

As we work through the shadows of the Muladhara, discovering where you feel insecure is a great way to identify fears in your life. As the main shadow emotion of the Muladhara chakra, we experience fear as a way to let us know that our survival is being threatened. For our ancestors, this mainly meant that they didn’t have food or shelter. And while that may be what feels threatened in our own lives if we feel financially insecure, it can also manifest as an insecurity around who we are, a lack of self-identity.
We may experience this throughout our lives, during transitional phases, when experiencing depression, or even unbeknownst to us. Think of the shadow aspect as a sign of an imbalance within your chakra. It isn’t a bad thing, it’s perhaps that you are either deficient or excessive in the Muladhara energy. It can at times be hard to identify, but so often, our exterior worlds reflect our inner worlds. We can look around us and see physical signs of an emerging fear shadow.
